We want to thank MIT for rejecing the Compact. MIT’s response, which you can read here, highlights points of alignment with the Compact such as focus on academic excellence and financial access, as well as points of disagreement regarding topics such as academic freedom and institutional independence. As a group of alumni who came together to support MIT's independence and mission to further science, we believe this is the right answer.
